Eha-Amufu Massacre: Vote Out PDP, NUF Tells Enugu Voters

Alphonsus Nweze

An Igbo socio-political group, the Ndigbo Unity Forum (NUF), has asked the people of Enugu State to vote out the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the State in the March 11, 2023 Governorship Election.

The group which spoke through its leader, Dede Uzor A. Uzor, after their executive meeting in Enugu weekend, expressed surprise that up till this moment no single person has been arrested, detained or being prosecuted for the massacre of Eha-Amufu people in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of the State.

The forum had issued a statement during the massacre condemning the bloodletting and equally accused Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and his agents of being behind the killings.

They had also flayed the indifference of the security operatives in Enugu State as long as the killings lasted, saying that it showed there was conspiracy between the Government and the security outfits against the community.

The socio-political group said the killings was purely political since Chijioke Edeoga, the Labour Party candidate, in the March 11 election hails from Eha-Amufu community.

But the group expressed shock that there was no single arrest by security operatives during the massacre, neither has anybody been charged to court.

“Life has continued to go on as if nothing happened even when innocent and unarmed citizens were butchered like animals in the village during the persistent killings” the group said.

They called on the people of Enugu State to teach the outgoing Governor and his supporters the lessons of their lives by voting out PDP.

They said :”this will teach the political leaders in the State lessons of their lives; that you don’t treat people with ignominy and as sub – human beings just because you are in power.”
